Which trades people have time to think about insurance?
As a tradesman myself (I was a builder for 25 years) I know what it's like. There's the VAT return due, unpaid bills to chase up, advertising to plan, a list of customers to give quotes to. Oh and the van needs an MOT but it's burning oil so you may have to change it anyway.
None of these really matter so much, though, if you're hit by a compensation claim, whether it is justified or not. Having the right insurance can make the difference to booking that long holiday you and your family deserve, or going out of business and losing everything.
We are rather different to the other companies. For a start we understand the problems of running a small business, because we have been there ourselves. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the fact that we don't just arrange quotes for you from one or two insurers. We have a panel of highly experienced brokers available, all of which have contacts with different insurance companies and underwriters. This means that can ask them to look for the best value for your money. So, what kind of insurance can you get?
Employers Liability Cover
If you employ anyone you will almost certainly have to have Employer's Liability Insurance by law. This protects the employees in the event of them having a work related accident (and protects you against being sued by them!).
Public Liability
Public liability insurance isn't a legal requirement but many employers and main contractors won't even consider dealing with firms or individuals that don't have it.It could provide a payout for a third party (in other words a member of the public, or another on-site worker not employed by you) who was hurt or lost money because of alleged negligence by yourself or one of your employees.
Public liability claims can be high, particularly in the case of injuries. Compensation costs are bad enough but legal fees can inflate the final cost horrendously.
This is what insurance is there for; a good policy should away all the worries of problems like these.
Tool Insurance
Few problems are more sickening if you go to your van and find that all your tools have been stolen. Even worse, you may have hired equipment that you'll be obliged to pay for. The right policy could replace these for you - and quickly.
